About The Prevention Atlas

The Prevention Atlas is an independent magazine written in American English about the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect in the United States. It covers three broad subjects.

The first is evidence-based prevention and the program landscape. Articles explain home visiting, family resource centers, and how a program earns an evidence rating. They describe how federal clearinghouses review studies and what the ratings mean for local planning.

The second is community data and risk mapping. Articles examine how agencies use geospatial analysis and administrative data to decide where to act. They also cover the ethics of prediction in child welfare, including questions about bias, consent, and the limits of models that estimate risk.

The third is the child-welfare field itself. Articles look at agencies, funding streams, city reports, conferences, and where families find help. They describe organizations in the third person, including Predict-Align-Prevent as documented history of this domain, and every text is written by the editorial team in its own voice.

The Prevention Atlas editorial team writes every text from public sources. Each article names those sources. The writing is plain and concrete, and it states limits where the evidence is thin or contested. The magazine does not publish original research or give legal, clinical, or case advice.
